Please stop by and see the professional muralists Jennie and Josh from Hurley work on the new mural which is being painted on Taylor Hartgraves room.

Hurley is providing the supplies and artists for free as part of their community outreach in support of arts.

Both artists have been meeting with our students to design something that speaks to the TeWinkle sprit and we hope you will enjoy the design.  Students will be joining them in the painting during lunch and study groups, and after school.  The mural should be finished before Winter break.

Mrs. Wood's class is using the Flipped Learning method (Flipped learning is when direct instruction happens outside of the classroom, so that class time can be used for more hands-on interactive group work.) for her math classes. Your donations will offset photocopying costs and help your school dollars go further!

Two ways that you can help:

  • Bring reams of 8.5 x 11 white paper to the school office and place them into the drop-box,
  • or write us a check* for $27.00, and we will arrange to have a case of paper delivered to the school.

Still have Questions? Contact Ms. Tolzda at Ktolzda@nmusd.us

TeWinkle Teachers use LEARNING GOALS to help students focus on their learning objectives. Teachers know what the most important things are that students must master and providing these goals allows the students to know what they should be able to do by the end of a course.

Halloween Performance and Art Show

dia_de_los_muertos1.pngTo show off our students excellent work and celebrate the spookiest days of the year, Mr. Maag and Mr. McFadden are preparing a Halloween / Dia de los muertos presentation in Boswell Hall during 3rd period.

On Halloween (Thursday 10/31) during 3rd period, classes can come and hear music sung by the TeWinkle Choir and see artwork inspired by Mexican folk art for the Day of the Dead.

Mrs. Jacobs’ Room 31 students work with Mrs. Clifford’s class at California Elementary School once a month. They are paired with a “Kinder-Buddy” for a year to work on Reading, social skills, and they are peer role models. This is a rewarding program for all students, and it is a lot of fun as well!

Go Trojans!

Thank you Mrs. Laux for helping our Future Photographers!

Every kid deserves to have a yearbook filled with memories of their childhood. Our students would love to be able to record events that happen throughout the year by photographing them. They are just getting interested in the techniques of photography, and we would love to be able to foster that love of the arts and technology.

Who doesn't love looking back through old yearbooks to remember their childhood? With new cameras, TeWinkle students’ will be able to remember their favorite moments.

Thank you Mrs. Laux for getting our school the Grant for the cameras!

Our First ELAC Meeting was a Success!

Last night, we had a wonderful turnout at our first ELAC (English Learner Advisory Committee).  The MPR at Pomona was packed with parents.  We ended up bringing more chairs and pulling out more tables for the parents.  I want to personally thank Mrs. Millam who showed up and presented on all the wonderful things that the History Department is doing this year.  The parents were so appreciative of her presence and they were so attentive to her presentation.  Thank you to Mrs. Hurst for welcoming the parents and staying for the entire meeting.  The parents were thrilled to meet her and have her there.
